Not only health from exercise, but also a reduction in car crash related injuries, and the whole city benefits from cleaner air with less cars on the road. Theres also the huge financial savings because each mile traveled by bike is far less expensive for society than a car mile (road surfacing, signage, registration, traffic enforcement, subsidized parking, less pavement needed for a bike lane vs a car lane, etc)

Speaking of taxpayer money, I’d like to see an accounting of how much the current wave of deportations is costing us (including the resulting flood of litigation) and the dollar value we’re getting out of it. Seems like DOGE should be riding herd on this, right?

hell you cant even find sidewalks in a lot of places any more. I would be happy if those were required and allows to see the bike population and if it needs the lanes put in.

I have encountered quite a few bus stops with no sidewalks near them. You just kind of had to hike, sometimes on fairly hilly/uneven terrain. Very hard for those of us with mobility issues.

yeah my joints are all fucked, even going up hill in parking lots sucks, so I could bike or walk if the sidewalk was there so I didnt add side strains to my joints.

More productive and less like to become a burden on Medicare and Medicaid, this saving taxpayer money.

Pensions are lower when they die quickly after retiring. The medical bills at age 70 or 80 will be the same. People use hospitals when dying no matter what.

I hope you’re joking - did you forget the /s?

Cus “dying” in a hospital can be quite different… if you’re sick at the age of 70, but live till 90, or if you’re a healthy biker that only got sick at 85, and still lived till 90. People die quite differently, and a healthy lifestyle can reduce suffering and cost.

Sick people at 70 don’t live till 90 buddy, they die at 72

We’re increasing retirement age quite a bit because we live longer now.

In that regard it’s great. But if retired? Better if they die quickly

I mean my sick grandma was sick at 30 and lived till she was 80. I hope you understand that people can and will live quite differently? Though hospital bills don’t help.

My mom’s family all died young. Smoked and lots of alcohol. Unhealthy lifestyle is correlated with early deaths.

At age 30 you don’t get sick from lifestyle. Lifestyle kills later but quickly.
