  • I want to do things like that, but I first require more space and time, I just bought and ESP32, but I still need some other components heh

¡Buena suerte aprendiendo español!, it can be hard because of all the conjugations and times we use. I’m trying to learn German 🤓

I’ll check it out, thanks! Have you used a lot of VMWare software, for example? We have networking classes with software/hardware from Cisco, but barely touch any other tools.

And they certainly look like losers lol

Hmm, I’m liking it very much. I’ve been self-hosting as part of my learning journey so I can understand better the things I learn and apply them. Right now I’m concerned with people replacing security roles with AI, but it’s México and we’re so behind in cybersecurity I think I can worry later. I want to go into GRC or auditing, any tips?

I like a lot of different areas, I’m thinking about following one of my teachers ideas and also offer freelance monitoring solutions. I try to learn a bit of everything so I can stay ready :)

BTW, if you know any software that’s very used so I can start checking out, I’d be glad to hear about it. I know the FOSS alternatives are not that common and that’s what I have to use rn

I’m studying cybersecurity and there are barely any women, but our directors are always encouraging them to participate and speak more. I’m friends with some of them and they hardly encounter anyone hostile. There are some men that speak behind their backs, but I’m glad a lot of people defend them and are open about their stance against sexism and misogyny. It’d always funny when anyone says something sexist and everyone around responds making fun of them or just ignoring them and leaving them alone on their comments.

Of course, it’s not perfect, but I’m glad that it’s getting better. Also, women were the whole top 3 or 5 of all students in our faculty lol

  • Too many times I’ve been at the very limit of failing to deliver an assignment. I used to have classes from morning to night (used to get home at 23:00) and sometimes I did homework at uni and scan/upload in my computer since camera-scanned documents don’t look as good, so I had to deliver them ASAP, but Windows would take a LOT of time to load Teams and sometimes it started applying updates at startup, so it would be SLOW AS HELL.

Just some days ago it happened again (the homework was assigned a day before) so I booted up windows and what a surprise (/s) it started applying updates, so Teams wouldn’t even open. I had to send the files from there to my linux computer (I love you, KDE connect!) because I still had to add some things to the document and Teams for Linux loaded in a second lol

  • I’m still using Docker Rootless, which I want to change for Podman since Rootless is second-class for Docker, but I haven’t been able to read the documentation enough to understand Podman Quadlets to migrate my compose files, and there are some incompatible configurations so even if using podlet, I have to edit some things manually.

I also want to migrate to MicroOS if possible in my server, but I’m still testing things in a VM to understand enough and the cost-benefit u.u

  • Could you give more information?

Is it running in the same machine you want to search from?

Is it running in a container (and which network mode)?

Have you changed the configuration of SearXNG? I think the default URL was localhost in some settings (like the hostname or base_url variables in both settings.yml and docker-compose.yml).

Also, it’s been a while since I made SearXNG my default search engine, I used to use an extension since the Firefox way is less customizable.

  • That would be wonderful! I got the opportunity to try Linux when I was like 5 (didn’t know it was Linux) and even though I was already very interested in computers, I didn’t know I was using Linux nor how capable it was.

It took time until I had my own laptop and could start learning new things, and only knowing about Linux from afar since I wasn’t able to install it myself and didn’t have any adults that could teach me, but you could be that person to this kid (if they’re interested in the future ofc)!

  • Most of the Mexican government uses Twitter almost exclusively and most media only have access to their news via their websites (no RSS/Atom). There’s no clear way to fight this as there are no clear laws about access to publicly funded content 😐

So in events like this, most people have to rely on conversations and the governemnt presence because you can’t find information easily.
