Yes but they used it as an adjective, not a verb.

laconicsoftware@lemmy.mlto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What exactly is the process of traveling by plane from US (where I am) to Japan for a few weeks?4·2 years agoMan, I flew to a Korean last year for around $800 a ticket but I CANNOT find anything under 1k this year so far. And I’ve been looking all year, I even use most of these tricks… I’m afraid flying there is just a lot more expensive now 😞

I explained at least one thing wrong with it
No, GP said that there’s nothing wrong with wanting to see the world, and all you replied what’s wrong with air travel.
And just because traveling the world is a recent phenomenon, doesn’t mean people haven’t had the desire to explore the world and distant places for centuries.

Sounds very exhausting and sometimes I complain because once or twice a year we have to work a little extra on Friday night’s, haha. Nice to have some perspective sometimes.
I wouldn’t say being an air traffic controller is really anything like being a pilot to be honest. Pilots have to have very technical knowledge of aeronautics and focus their one single job of safely managing / landing their plane. An air traffic controller has to coordinate airspace for (possibly) many aircraft in a safe way. It can get very chaotic when things go awry but 90% of the time it’s fairly straight forward procedure.
I was about task how a person can even work that much forgetting I used to do air traffic control and had very similar hours. Glad I don’t have to work like that anymore. Although I’m sure your work is more rewarding.
laconicsoftware@lemmy.mlto PlayStation | PS5@lemmy.world•PlayStation Portal: Hands On With Sony's New Remote Play Handheld1·2 years agoI mostly agree with this, but I don’t think I’d enjoy playing with a clip + controller combo and I’d really love to use a backbone if they made one that fit my phone.
There’s other backbone-like controllers that do though, so I may give that a shot.
Dont know about where you’re from but when someone says concert they usually mean large production in an arena or other large seating capacity venue. Not something that is held at bars. I’d call something I go to at a bar a “show”.
laconicsoftware@lemmy.mlto PlayStation | PS5@lemmy.world•PlayStation Portal: Hands On With Sony's New Remote Play Handheld31·2 years agoWas really disappointed the more I learned about this. And I’ll say it looks awful too, something an 8 year old would design. But, I don’t play my playstation nearly as much as I’d like simply because it’s not portable like my switch. Maybe this will be the kick I need to play my PS games more and for $200, it’s pretty affordable. Might as well give it a try.

She has offered to watch it with me but I don’t know if I can.
The company I work for is based out of San Diego (I’m from the deep south) and they fly me out there occasionally for work. I also lived there for about a year a little over 10 years ago. Downtown San Diego is somewhat similar to what you mentioned but the rest of it is basically paradise. Granted, I couldn’t afford to live there (especially the paradise parts) but none of the stuff you mentioned has been a problem to me as an out-of-towner.
I rented a car so I can’t comment on taxis, but I’m willing to bet that’s not a California specific thing. In fact, if you’ve ever been to Seoul or Busan you would probably wish you had a California driver. The nice hotel I stayed at was around $250 a night I believe and it was around some nice shops that I visited for food. Never saw anyone steal anything and don’t recall seeing stuff locked up (at least not nearly as much as I do where I’m from in the south).
I went to Pacific beach, didn’t see anyone (noticeably) on drugs and ate a wonderful dinner and ran around on the beach at night with some coworkers. We also went to a Padres game (they lost) and had a blast. Parking sucked and was expensive. There were a good bit of homeless people packed downtown and it wasn’t nearly as nice as it was 10 years ago. The worst thing about it is it’s super expensive and things are really far a part and car centric, but I don’t know any place in the US that’s not really like that.
However, I absolutely believe every thing you said. I don’t doubt any of it. In fact it sound vaguely similar to my experience in San Fransisco many years ago. California is a massive state, like, super duper big. Some parts are better than others but overall I think it’s a pretty sweet place if you could afford it. There are definitely places I’d choose to live over California but it wouldn’t be too far down the list.

How does them giving free games have anything to do with their desire for a “monopolistic” market share? Couldn’t they just do the same if they wanted any market share?
