6·8 days agoYou are correct, she should have used leading '0’s. Really, they could have fixed that sort. Excel does it without leading '0’s. Excel also does a lot of other nonsense because it is trying too hard, maybe I prefer the dumb sort. I try to get my people to start dated files with YYYYMMDDHHMM just because the file sorting is sort of dumb, but they insist on MMDDYYYY so all the years get jumbled together by month…

2·22 days agoYeah, people keep asking for a second screen. I don’t think it could be for anything but DS emulation. For anything else it would be pointless. I like having more space for the controls so my hand isn’t as cramped. I’m almost off the fence on getting this one. The only one that comes close is that clamshell SP style emulator, and the only reason that doesn’t win is I want to be able to play android games…
Nah, I just want a regular single android screen with the controls on the flip like it is. I don’t want the controls pushed to the outside. I also need the buttons and screen to be safe if I toss it in my pocket. It is a great form factor really.
I read that in the voice of the Hunter S. Thompson audio book narrator. HST would be having a field day with this.

The answer is never censorship. Look at who would be in charge of your ‘regulated’ social media now… It would be all of it instead of just the now hyper-regulated X.
2·24 days agoWell… To be fair, I have a switch for me and a switch for my wife that we played daily animal crossing on for years besides our other games and never had a tracking issue, or any other issue, on either one, so it isn’t an inevitable failure. But it does give me anxiety expecting it to happen at any time.
The fact that you think humans don’t use neural networks trained by experience to generate art (or anything else we do) tells me you don’t know how humans art nor how machines train.
Yes, my brain was trained on many sources and that was the reply that was generated. Now you are getting the hang of how AI works. Congrats. Take your new knowledge and go do great things in the world.
The word you are thinking of is not ‘art’ it’s ‘skill’. A stick man that takes 3 seconds is art. The person who sketched it is an ‘artist’. A painting a master works on for a decade is art and the guy who made it is an ‘artist’. One takes more skill than the other, but they both get to be called art. Nobody of note is claiming the skills are comparable, but you are trying to gate-keep the terms ‘art’ and ‘artist’ pretty hard-core. The same as the people who claimed photograpy wasn’t art because all the person did was “have an eye for the prompt… I mean shot. And curate a generated image, i mean capture an image on film and pass it off as their ‘art’.”

Until microsoft makes that the default down in the lower right corner, I don’t think we’ll make much headway. I’ve been trying to get my office to do their dated files in YYYYMMDDHHMM for years. I do mine that way but I can’t get anybody else to comply. This meme lists that as a discouraged format, I guess the dashes are ISO but I don’t care about the dashes. I would accept doing YYYY-MM-DD over MMDDYYYY any time though.
