It was horrible.
It was horrible.
I don’t understand. They’re still fighting? Is 24 hours up already?
I think you can answer this question yourself. If the roles were reversed how would you answer this question?
Would you forgive her? How? Why?
Twenty One Pilots and ELO.
I’m sorry, did you say China or the US?
Man, don’t read this article unless you have a strange desire to have nightmares.
He seems to have united the world… regrettably against us.
Also the word “bigly.” I use it all the time.
A $60k car and a $1600 cell phone are NOT essential for life and I didn’t just “nah, it is just that,” the argument. You’re just having reading comprehension problems.
Let’s drop to your level. Are you stupid enough to believe that people don’t buy things they can’t afford? If you only have even $10 to your name and you need food, you go to the most economical grocery store you can get to and maximize your purchases. You don’t walk into Starbucks and order a latte. The OP implied that because there is as larger economic problem at hand, money management isn’t an issue. They are ALWAYS both an issue.
And yes I understand that the problem is that people have to manage $10 now instead of $1000. It was not my intention to minimalize that.
Ok. Troll go ahead and keep believing what you want. You will always be right.
OMG, would people get off the friggin cell phone thing already. People buy all kinds of things they can’t afford. Money management would help with that. That was my only point. But if we HAVE to talk cell phones then fine. High end phones are over $1k. I just bought one for $200. To a person with little money, yeah cell phones too.
That’s truly terrible but I don’t know what that has to do with money management, which is the only point I’m trying to make. I agree on the rest of all of this.
I think you’re right. The problem is that salaries are not keeping up. It’s been a chronic problem.
I see. Well…
Fuck!
Oh you can also use coconut oil. I guess some people say it has a good flavor but I have to say I don’t notice any real olive oil flavor in my popcorn but I really use very little. My popcorn is pretty dry, which is how I like it.
Nope works fine. But you can’t use extra virgin olive oil. It has a lower smoke point. Also I’ve found you can do a small bowl or a regular bowl but a large one is best done in two shots.
I used to just use a brown paper bag. Put about a teaspoon of olive oil in the bottom and a little less than a 1/4 cup of popcorn in the bottom (it will start to bleed through, so I put it on a paper towel), put a couple staples in the top (no they won’t spark) and nuke for maybe a couple of minutes.
This did not produce enough popcorn for my addiction, so I started using as plastic microwave popcorn bowl someone gave me. It was more or less the same recipe but I was able to up the quantity a little bit. I didn’t like cooking in plastic though, so now I use a Pyrex bowl with a square plate over the top. The square plate is too keep the popcorn in but still have a little space for the steam to escape. I like not having plastic in the equation anymore but there are some drawbacks.
It takes about 5.5 minutes now(1st world problem).
The bowl gets really hot so you MUST use oven mitts to handle it.
The salt, which I put in before popping, seems to stay more in the bowl than on the popcorn.
I’m constantly worried that at some point the bowl is just going to explode.
I hope so. I admit, I didn’t read the article.
As I mentioned, I didn’t really know where to post it. I guess my lemmy-foo isn’t up to snuff. I saw that this appears to be in lemmy.world, but only 10 options came up when I tried to post and none of them really seemed right. Advice?
It’s not stupid, you’ve just stupidly misinterpreted it.
I believe you’ve mistakenly interpreted it to mean that I disagree with the premise that people have been priced out of the things we’ve come to believe are the standard of living now. That’s not what I was objecting to.
My point is that money should ALWAYS be managed. If you have no money, then, well I guess it manages itself. But if you have very little money, you shouldn’t be buying s $60k car you can’t afford. You buy a $3k car you can. Saying, I can’t afford a house so I’m going to go into massive amounts of debt to buy a car to make up for it, is the REASON you need to manage money.
Thank you for the thorough response. After looking carefully at what you wrote I didn’t really see a difference between the term self-hosting and home network.
You said you have software that automatically downloads media. The way I see this using movies for instance, if I own the movies and have them on my machine, then I can stream them over my network and have full control. Whereas if I “own” them on Amazon and steam it from there, they can track the viewing experience, push ads, or even remove the content completely. I understand that… But if I want a NEW movie, I’m back to Amazon to get it in the first place (or Netflix, or Walmart, etc. I get it). I’m fact, personally I’ve started actually buying disks of the movies/music I like most so that it can’t really be taken away and I can enjoy it even without an Internet connection. Am I missing something? Unless of course the media you are downloading is pirated.
I know I’m asking what seems to be a huge question but I’m really only asking for a broad description, sort of an ELI5 thing.
Yeah, the comment was just intended to highlight how bad things are getting here now.
