This is why it would be hard for me to make a fruit tier list. I think you need to have 2 lists, a list for each fruit at mid and a list for each fruit at its best. For example, I tend to eat apples, strawberries, or grapefruits pretty regularly even when they are not at their best because I still enjoy them at mid so in my mind they would be top of the mid list. But something like a peach or a pineapple will be at the top of the other list even though I probably won’t eat them at mid. I have a simple rule for peaches which is if I am in the store and I can smell them, I have to buy them. Works every time and I get damn good peaches that way. I’ve always wanted to try a fresh peach off a tree and I imagine it’s like fruit heroin.
See… You have to get into the mind of a straight man from the 1950s and ask yourself one of 2 questions: Is this a woman’s thing? Or would I fuck this thing? Cars are considered “beautiful” and “sexy” and therefore fuckable by a man. I hope this has been a good lesson in outrageous sexism.

7·19 days agoI try to get this song played at every wedding I go to. Some DJs are skeptical and reluctantly put it on and are then surprised when everyone gets up to dance.
There is an excellent album by Cheekface called “It’s Sorted” that talks about all kinds of mundane modern problems. They sound sort of like Cake with a comedic element.

My friends and I started an “Indie Game Club” which is similar to a book club but for indie video games. It’s really helped to branch out and try new things that I wouldn’t usually try. And of course, if you finish the game fast enough, you can get back to the one game you have 10000+ hours in. But I’d say probably 1/3 of the games we’ve played I liked so much that I didn’t want to stop playing and go back to my usual and used the whole time to just keep playing. It’s been an excellent experience!

Television@piefed.social•What are you watching and what do you recommend this week?English
8·26 days agoI’m watching The Chair Company which is Tim Robinson’s latest show. I can’t recommend it to everyone, but if you’re into his style of comedy, you’ll love this show. It’s framed as a serious mystery drama, but there’s so many rediculous jokes sprinkled in I can’t help but laugh in spite the serious tone.

6·29 days agoI always return my cart rain or shine no matter how far away the return is. But there was one time I didn’t when I moved to a new neighborhood and went to the local grocer for the first time. This particular store shared a parking lot with a hardware store. I parked in a spot I thought was on the grocery store side of the lot, but I guess not? I bring my cart out and I’m almost to my car when suddenly the wheels lock up and I can’t move the cart anymore. turns out they have a system in their carts to prevent people from stealing them. But I guess the zone for that is up to interpretation because I really feel like I was parked on the grocery side of the lot even if off to the side a bit. I ended up leaving the cart and just walked my groceries to my car. I blame the store for not properly marking the zone or improperly setting it in the first place. Not much I could do about it otherwise.

16·1 month agoDuring COVID lockdowns, my husband and I started coming up with movie anthologies or themes we could watch so we would A) always know what to watch next and B) further educate ourselves in film. My favorite anthology to date has been John Carpenter. I had never seen a John Carpenter movie before and we went through all of them and it was a blast. But out of all of his films, The Thing was by far the most impactful. My husband and I both grew up on the Internet and are highly desensitized to gross and scary things. But we were both on the edge of our seats while also appreciating the masterful prosthetics and puppetry that went into that movie. I always have to warn people, that I can’t recommend it enough but it’s not for the faint of heart. Definitely one of the Great horror films ever made.

24·1 month agoThis is why I roll my eyes at people who talk about how healthy honey is. Like sure it’s better for you than sugar for very minute reasons, but at the end of the day, it’s still sugar. But you know… honey is “natural”. Marketing is a helluva drug.

532·1 month agoA more accurate description would be an “imbalanced” meal. It contains ingredients that would give you needed nutrients, but at the wrong levels. Too much fat and carbs, vs “vegetables” which are also processed and full of added sugar and salt. It’s not the worst thing you could eat, but it isn’t great. To your point, that’s why moderation is so important.

I was going to take this opportunity to plug one of the vexillology circle jerk communities, but they both seem pretty dead. So I’ll just enjoy this cool rat flag and be on my way.
