  • consistency like toothpaste squeezing out of a tube

This seems way too soft, like isn’t it supposed to firm up a bit before you poop it out? Like, if I wipe 3 times and I still have soft poop behind the sphincter that ain’t right. Ideally I’m thinking like ripe peeled banana or a little harder, you know? Actually drop a few logs rather than the soft-serv shape from the emoji. Maybe this is 80s-90s thinking though, from when dog poop was white.

  • This was the idea that the Christians had as they were overturning the Greco-Roman world. Christians were the first people to be called atheists as they didnt care at all about Justice, Reason, Democracy, all the traces of the ancient world that still bless us today. Those virtues only gained any kind of foothold back into Western culture during times like the Renaissance when scholars were studying the remaining works of antiquity, heck the Founding Fathers who created the American Republic many of us live in all studied ancient Greek and were aware of this.

  • Have you read the Septuagint(s) in Ancient Greek though? There’s scholarly dispute over whether the Greek texts came first and in general Hebrew was a dead language akin to Latin today except with a vocabulary of only 9000 words at the time the Old Testament was written. No known medical texts or literature at that time was being written in Hebrew, maybe a few amulets and accounting documents exist prior to the Torah being written. Hebrew as a living, flourishing language was from before contact with the Greeks, maybe 800-1000 years prior. Jews of the time spoke Greek and had for centuries (as did Jesus), and synagogues of the time had Greek inscriptions on their walls.

Some of the criticism I’ve heard is that the writing of the Old Testament during Greek occupation was akin to the Babylonian Captivity where the Jews that considered themselves purists were angry with Jews who had adopted Greek culture and the writing of it was fundamentally reactionary to that, and trying to recreate a culture that in many ways had already been lost. Also, access to the Library of Alexandria and other libraries at the time (no earlier than 300 BC, probably later) seems to have played a large role in helping the reactionary Jews who led the movement that became dominant write a history of the world that put themselves first.

Anyone interested in this kind of perspective is encouraged to learn about and watch interviews with Dr. Ammon Hillman, who has been translating Ancient Greek for 35 years. He is a classical philologist, meaning his education focuses on Greek texts rather than a biblical scholar who only studies the bible. He has many interviews available on youtube and none of his books or media are monetized. He understandably has a huge number of powerful detractors and he is no longer affiliated with any academic institution but he teaches the largest course on Classical Greek online.

Could be we just aren’t eating enough uncooked whole, live frogs in our modern diet. Someone has to volunteer to gulp down a few to see if their probiotics cure their cancer, throw some newts in for good measure. If we don’t get proof that works at a citizen science level, pharma companies will at best brew the bacteria in a lab and sell it back to us at exorbitant prices. Who will be the next Jonas Salk?

  • Lewinsky almost cost him reelection, and arguably derailed the Democratic agenda that Clinton was selected by the American people to enact in his second term. Clinton could have cost her her career at most. From a national security perspective Lewinsky wielded and used power that changed the course of history in a way that few people have.

The national conversation in the early 90s about sexual harassment including the Clarence Thomas scandal with his assistant (forgot her name) was one of how sex could compromise powerful leaders (men generally) and it’s worth considering whether Lewinsky was acting as an insider agent to compromise Clinton, perhaps as part of a nation state level attack on the integrity of of the office rather than it all simply being a man using the clout of his office unethically to have sex.

We don’t know what is in Lewinsky’s CIA file and it’s entirely possible she was a Russian or other agent acting intentionally to cause chaos. Her family comes from a former Warsaw Pact country and she immediately fled the country to Canada to be on the Tom Green show after the scandal so it’s plausible. We really don’t know but the power imbalance may have been intentionally reversed in some ways. The Epstein files show Clinton to be easily compromised by young women so it would be an obvious avenue of attack by an adversary, and the scandal continues to have an effect on how we talk about power and sex to this day.

  • I downloaded all 4 zip files from the release today and converted the thousands of single-image pdfs to jpg for easy browsing, it comes out to 1.5gb and 8400 or so images. A lot of pictures are of rooms assumably taken at Li’l St. James or another of Epstein’s properties. Contents of drawers, closets, scrapbooks, paper effects, photos and paintings. I’m maybe a quarter of the way through, there have been a few photos but nothing with Trump in them.

I encourage anyone else to download and convert the files and browse through them. I thought there would be hundreds of thousands though, not 8400.
