Strava’s enshitification continues. It’s basically useless now without an expensive subscription. I mountain bike. All I want is to track my lap time, segment time, and compare against personal records.

I tried MapMyRide today, which pretty much just tracked my lap time. Not ideal.

Are there any decent alternatives?

Thanks in advance.

I no longer use it but when I moved away from Sports Tracker the best lightweight alternative I found was Caynax Sports tracker. It’s about as bare bones as it gets but it did everything I needed it to and nothing else.

Endurain is very very cool, but I’m not sure if it does personal records or segments yet. Strava segments, especially, will be hard to match since they’re crowdsourced.

@walden @horse manually creating segments on regular routes is labour, but not too burdensome.

Segments on one off routes don’t have much value on a small instance.

I’m interested to see how it works.

I’m poking around and don’t see a segments option or anything similar in Endurain at the moment. I could be missing it, though.

My Endurain instance is single user, so I’d just create segments that interest me (probably based off what Strava users have come up with). I usually ride the same 1 or 2 places so it would be pretty easy!

Garmin is definitely what I would have recommended until a month ago when they started pulling subscription crap.

They’re still better than Strava though, so if that’s what you’ve been using so far it could be worth it. Polar also introduced subscriptions in the last month. I’m not sure about Wahoo, Hammerhead, or other fitness brands.

Have you looked at intervals.icu? It lets you track all of the data you can think of and a lot more. Especially useful if you have a Powermeter and heart rate sensor

A head unit from Garmin or Wahoo will let you track a lot of data. While it’s an extra expense i think it’s definitely worth it.
