My introduction to this song was Gwar’s cover in tribute to Oderus. Great song, 10/10.

I found out years later that the Leonardo DiCaprio movie The Basketball Diaries is based on Jim Carroll’s life and I think has some of the people from the song in it. I haven’t actually watched it, but saw bits of it on TV when I worked in broadcasting
Jim Carroll wrote a book called “The Basketball Diaries” and it is pretty funny. The sequel “Forced Entries” is good, but not great.
Jim wrote that book as an autobiography.
