The absolute irony of Doug asking if the judges have anything better to do than worry about bike lanes.
Dougie can fuck right off - the courts determine legality, not elected officials. They’re doing their damn job, it’s just inconvenient for him and his pals.
Ford over reaches his provincal authority to meddle in Toronto affairs (a grudge he holds because Toronto was too smart to elect him mayor). Now ford is upset when our judges defend cyclists, spent tax dollars, and defends a municipality’s right to handle it own affairs.
Remind me again how conservatives are fiscally responsible by removing brand new infrastructure? Remind me again how any of this is “small government”? Or does he only want a small government when it means paving highways?
The city officials who don’t want those bike lanes removed, were elected, though. And this judge sided with them, so…it sounds like Ford is just upset at being overruled in favor of the local government.
Undermining the judiciary. Where have I heard this before…
he also denounced other judges that he believes are making decisions because of their “ideology.”
This is really rich considering the thing he is so upset about is his own personal vanity project that he is pursuing not even for ideological reasons, certainly not for rational reasons, but purely for emotional reasons.
“We get democratically elected, and some judge slaps an injunction on bike lanes. Don’t the judges have anything better to do than worry about if we’re taking out bike lanes or not taking out bike lanes?” he said.
It’s beneath a judge to meddle with such things, but I guess it’s NOT beneath the Premier of the fucking province to meddle with three fucking bike lanes. The lack of self awareness to own himself like that is fucking staggering.
Lack of self awareness is a key trait of conservative people.
