Why is there now a community fork of Organic Maps? What happened to the original?

TLDR: owners of Organic Maps have been shady and not transparent enough.
Since the first was organic maps, what if this one was named after something that comes from organic compounds? Bacteria were probably the first organic life to emerge, though that might not fit well into a name. But something along those lines.
I just wanted to spread awareness by crossposting, please comment your suggestions in the original thread.
