It’s interesting living in the fallout from the employment trends that this comic was noticing at the time, 40ish years later. Soldering toaster springs is like the coal mining jobs that aren’t coming back, but are used for political grandstanding. The comic also noticed that there’s plenty of jobs, just not necessarily the ones you want, and you might have to learn something.
I was noting this morning while posting how we are seeing, in print, the fall of American manufacturing. And as @[email protected] has noted, this is not in the books. Many fans are seeing this storyline for the first time, and it is especially fitting with tariffs and the manufacturing will come home sentiment the American leadership is espousing.
