Explanation: A town in modern China, Liqian, is the subject of a theory that the town descended from Roman legionaries captured by Parthia and sent east. While possible, there is very little evidence to confirm such a theory. Still, it’s fun, and the town itself has seized on it with great enthusiasm, including making statues of Romans to celebrate it, so, considering that the Romans themselves placed little emphasis on direct bloodline descent, I think the ancestral lares of the legionaries would smile upon their descendants honoring them so 🙏
