In case you missed it, trump is signing executive orders targeting law firms that represented his political opponents. Then after they agree to work for him for free, he reveals the orders. Finally two firms said no and sued, but more than six law firms already caved and agreed to do free legal work in order to get the president to stop illegally retaliating against them for the crime of representing trumps political opponents.

Why is this not a bigger story?

Genuinely because we’re news saturated. Everything is bad & corrupt. It’s impossible to follow anything.

Not only news saturation, but a corruption saturation. The people that would hold the office of the presidency accountable, Congress, have abdicated their role. This is another reason why we need more than 2 parties; if a strong man takes over the leading party, there aren’t anymore checks and balances.

People are definitely talking about it. Follow any independent media that highlight legal issues like Strict Scrutiny, Lawfare, George Conway on the Bulwark etc.

Because it’s not as viscerally horrifying as the government disappearing people, so everyone is focused on the latter.

Because lawyers are either whores or mercenaries… Depending on how you look at it…

Why would you expect anything less from this bunch? They in the game to be paid mother fucking cash money so they will do what it takes to keep the cash flowing.

This ain’t even anything lawyer specific tbh
