Here we go! c/shmups’ first ever game of the month is Mushihimesama, by Cave.
It’s most accessible on Steam, but if you’ve got a copy on Switch (now deslisted from the eshop), Xbox 360, or PS2, we’ll take all versions. (Even emulation, but due to legal issues, we won’t be able to directly assist with that.)
So let’s go for it! This is meant to be fun and casual, so don’t worry about getting top rank, just do your best!
Progress posts, score posts – all Mushihimesama content is welcome and encouraged! Let’s us know how the grind is going! Share strats and routes! Ask your fellow shmuppers for help or encouragement.
Top scores and 1CCs in each category (Novice, 1.5, Black Label, etc.) will be decided on April 31st, and featured in the sidebar

Mostly went for Novice so far, but I also gave 1.5 a try - Stage 4 striked.

i think if i do some more runs, i might just go for the 1.5 score attack mode for simplicity.
1.5 score attack basic mode went marginally better. at least i made it to the stage 3 boss. that’s enough for me tonight.
I haven’t messed around with 1.5 much, but you inspired me to give it a try… wow, I need more practice!
tried it again tonight but i am absolutely exhausted. got about a quarter through the third stage and just died. lost all my ships in the second stage doing stupid stuff like not paying attention to my exits and not trying to corral the bugs.
EDIT: i think i like 1.5 a lot more than the original. just feels a little better to me, perhaps it’s the color changes? i’m unsure if the music changed as well. the score attack mode is a great addition, too.
